Jared McFarlin is a music director, pianist, and educator based in upstate New York. A versatile and flexible musician, Jared enjoys collaborating on projects such as concerts, theatrical productions, adjudication and audition prep, and community outreach while passing on a love of music and the arts to the next generation.

He is currently music director for Utica University Theatre and Notre Dame Junior/Senior High School Blue and Gold Players, and performs regionally as a keyboardist in professional and educational theater programs. Jared is part of the artistic staff at Stagedoor Manor Performing Arts Training Center, and works as part of their College Connection program. For the 2024-2025 season, Jared is collaborative pianist for the Oneida Area Civic Chorale. He also maintains a private studio and teaches with the Utica City School District.

Jared has a strong background in developing school music programs, most notably at the richly-diverse Madras High School in central Oregon, where he expanded course offerings, re-instituted the long-dormant marching band, added choral ensembles, and consistently sent students to honor groups such as OMEA All-State, NAfME All-Northwest, OSAA State Solo and Ensemble, Western International Band Clinic (WIBC), and Music in May at Pacific University. In 2023, he was recognized by state media for receiving the Amazing Educator Award for Jefferson County.

When not engaged in music activities, Jared enjoys spending time exploring the outdoors with his pitweiler Kylo, riding his motorcycle, catching a Broadway show, and traveling to visit friends and family.

Jared holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Eastern Washington University and a Master of Music from the American Band College (ABC) of Central Washington University.
