Jared McFarlin is a music director, pianist, and educator now based in the MetroWest area of greater Boston. A versatile and flexible musician, Jared enjoys collaborating on projects such as concerts, theatrical productions, adjudication and audition prep, and community outreach while passing on a love of music and the arts to the next generation.

He is currently Director of Instrumental Music at Framingham High School, where he conducts the concert band, orchestra, and Framingham Flyer Marching Band. Previously, he was music director for Utica University Theatre and Notre Dame Junior/Senior High School Blue and Gold Players, collaborative pianist for the Oneida Area Civic Chorale, and a music educator with the Utica City School District. Jared continues to perform regionally as a keyboardist in professional and educational theater programs, and music directs as part of the artistic staff at Stagedoor Manor Performing Arts Training Center.

Jared has a strong background in developing school music programs, most notably at the richly-diverse Madras High School in central Oregon, where he re-instituted the long-dormant marching band, added choral ensembles, expanded course offerings including A.P. Music Theory, and consistently sent instrumental and vocal students to honor groups such as OMEA All-State, NAfME All-Northwest, OSAA State Solo and Ensemble, Western International Band Clinic (WIBC), and Music in May at Pacific University. In 2023, he was recognized in Oregon by state media for receiving the Amazing Educator Award for Jefferson County.

When not engaged in music activities, Jared enjoys spending time exploring the outdoors with his pitweiler Kylo, motorcycle riding, catching a Broadway show, and traveling to visit friends and family.

Jared holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Eastern Washington University and a Master of Music from the American Band College (ABC) of Central Washington University.
